I want to mention a few specific things I have appreciated:
Kiran not hiding things from her parents or her in-laws. There was an initial hesitation which was natural but pretty soon it was all out. In ptv dramas where girls hiding mistreatment from husband's can stretch 15 episodes, it was refreshing to see Kiran did not continue to pretend all is hunky dory.
Countering the regressive with progressive. Regressive cktrs naturally say regressive things but their views are not allowed to fester, and we immediately get sane cktrs counter those regressive arguments. In ptv otherwise you see regressive cktrs say regressive shit for 20 continuous episodes and the progressive counter argument if it comes comes 20 episodes later. Here, Saif's khala when she saw Kiran's bruising downplayed it but Saif's sister immediately contradicted her that it's a big deal what Saif did to Kiran. The mamu is my fave cktr.
Lack of repetition. I really appreciate this about Dastak. Like Kirans mom saw her bruising and got upset. On the dining table it was said why not Kirans mom go see her room. In any other shows they would have shown Kiran mom go to her room ask about her bruising and get worried again. But here once they established the mother saw it and got worried, they didn't have to repeat this by showing her mom do the same in her room. No valima scene of Saif looking ukhra hua when that was already established in the baraat and other scenes. Another tv show would have given us valima scenes with redundant expressions. I noticed something similar in e2 where Saifs fame invited mamu and kirans family again after the first disaster meeting but they didn't show it because that wouldn't have added anything new. Here scenes that don't add anything new are not included which is refreshing.
Sohai's acting this week. I thought Sohai was just ok last week, but there were scenes this week where she didn't even have dialogues but her expressions did the job. I appreciate the subtlety in her performance in these epidodes. It was natural and restrained. No ott expressions. No overacting. Feroze is decent but he overdoes the eyes or it seems too repetitive, I dunno. The lesson from Sohai is less is more. I wouldn't have connected with her trauma this week if she had overdone the emotions and expressions.
