One take could be sunken cost fallacy. Vivian has invested time and emotions in his relationship with the two and probably wants to see it through to the finale.

Actually it’s a testament to his sense of loyalty and commitment. Rare trait in today’s world where sincerity is so fleeting.

Viv is not flighty or indecisive. He’s walking his own path and not changing his core at the whim of others.
