Deva: "Gill dismissal sums up how this series is going after perth test. How many times we have seen just before lunch/tea break dismissals. Talk about concentration and grit"

On a cloudy morning with plenty of grass on the wicket, Pat Cummins could well be the happy skipper right now having lost the toss. The first hour was full of spice and India had very few answers to an incredible partnership of new ball bowling from Starc and Cummins.

And it's lunch on day 1. The session belongs to Australia, especially with Gill's wicket on the last ball before the break. In the morning, India left out Rohit Sharma and opted to bat first after winning the toss. They did not have a great start as Starc and Boland sent back Rahul and Jaiswal, respectively, inside the first eight overs. Gill and Kohli, the latter with a side-on stance and no bat-tap, showed great restraint. While runs didn't come freely, India looked largely solid... until the last ball before lunch.

Rahul got out trying to flick a full ball from Starc and it didn't take long for Cummins to bring on Boland as soon as they saw Gill walk out to the crease. Boland was expected to get his bunny, Gill, but he instead got rid of the big fish Jaiswal.

Boland was expected to get his bunny, Gill, but he instead got rid of the big fish Jaiswal. It was evident for major part of the series that Jaiswal had been using his feet to shuffle and smother the movement, but today Boland's first ball against Jaiswal had extra nip and bounce on a short length. The Indian opener had nowhere to hide and ended up poking it to the slip cordon. The very next ball Australia felt they had Kohli (caught in the slip cordon), but there wasn't enough evidence for the telly umpire to rule it out. Post that, India have done well to negate the tough phase, but Gill had other plans right at the stroke of lunch. Back in 35 for the second session blues...

Gill Wicket # 539 for Lion

Aus need to win 1 match from following to Qualify for June 11-15 , 2025 WTC final vs SAfrica

On going Sydney test or 1st Galle test / or 2nd Galle test ( aus Agree to play both test at same Ground their spin weapon will be Head / Lyon plus)

If ind win at Sydney & Aus vs SL both test at Galle ends As Draw than India vs SAfrica WTC final.

In my opinion, without ironing out our issues, there is no point in looking for a berth in WTC final. Let us take one test at a time.

Cheers..
