Bro loves her. He was under the impression once he marries her, she'll also love him by default and will be ready to do anything for him. But she refused that hurt his pride and he wasn't expecting it at all but since she still wants to stay in the house he thinks it because she loves him...he doesn't want to make himself vulnerable in the marriage by exposing his feelings when she has none

Shahnawaz is not really difficult to understand. He is in love with Mehru but everything he does is according to what his mother wants. They want Zain out and Mehru is not cooperating. He doesn't want to give Mehru any advantage so suppresses his feelings for her so that she will sign the maafinaama. He thinks he can control his feelings. He is going to learn the hard way, it ain't so. But in the process, he is going to behave like a moronic idiotic man and make it twice as hard on himself, so that we can only enjoy him pining and suffering. The more idiotic things he does, the more fun we are all going to have watch him pine and grovel. I just don't want Mehru to be nice to him.

I am on board with most of this but what confuses me is his 180 flip with Amal. The way he’s running to her, getting her flowers, reassuring her about his mohabbat and loyalty. That isn’t needed when before he barely gave that girl the time of day. Just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. And makes his character look confused a bit trash tbh.

But maybe he’s supposed to come off as a bit trash and I’m okay with it. Mehru said na that she has to “fix” him - he clearly needs a lot of it. Despite his feelings being real, he’s still using people left right and center for his own benefit. The Amal thing is just a tad far for my own taste. Would have preferred that he kept boundaries until he could wrap his head around the Mehru situation.
