This is just my personal critique on the acting. Feel free to add on/ disagree. The reason why I made this post as I feel that some of the things have become too jarring when I watch the episodes
Firstly, starting off with the senior cast (mostly the Poddar family), they act well with the material they are given and I wish they were given more scope to perform. I miss all the times in old YRKKH where the side characters had their own stories and development.
Moving on to the parallel leads, I think Romit is decent but I feel that he has not reached his full potential in terms of acting in the show. I feel Garvita does well- her performance after she woke up from her coma and realised that she lost her baby was one of her best and I hope she gets opportunities as female lead in a new show in future to further develop herself. The actor playing Abhir is good in his anger scenes but I feel it's too early to judge him.
Finally as for the leads, I think Rohit does well in his anger scenes. But I feel that he overacts in romance scenes and even for the baby loss scene, I felt his performance was underwhelming. Compared to his performances in his other shows, I feel his acting has regressed. I was so surprised with his romance scenes as he did quite well in his previous shows.
But the biggest disappointment for me has been Samriddhi. When she first started in this show, she did really well in terms of the bubbly personality. And she stood out with the initial cast and I thought she had lots of potential. I don't know if it is the change in the cast or that her flaws started becoming more prominent with variations in her character but now I feel that her performance has become stagnant/ declined. Her emotional scenes have not been very impressive from the start. But this stood out to me in yesterday's episode when she found out that Abhir was her brother, I was confused at what emotion she was trying to convey (or I don't know if Samriddhi herself does not know what the writers and director are trying to convey
). When I muted and rewatched the scene, I realised that I could not make out much based on her facial expressions. Though the presentation of the scene was ludicrous, there have been crazier scenes on ITV previously and the older generation of actors managed to pull it off. And watching previous clips and episodes, I realised that Samriddhi has a standard set of expressions that she falls back on each time (but to give her the benefit of the doubt, the tracks in YRKKH are rather repetitive that might limit the scope for her performance). Regardless given how long she has been in YRKKH, I would expect her to do better in terms of emotional scenes and have more variations in terms of expressions.
