I hate this part too, it is not on the wife to change the behaviour of the grown man. And its always a copout with desi shows. Generally speaking, I hate this trope but in this drama, I see this playing out differently. Have you heard of the expression, "iron sharpens iron" -- basically she is telling him that she is going to straighten out this mess by pushing back. He is not going to dominate her and subdue her. Now, she hasn't indicated that it is a long-term marriage. Rather she is not leaving without driving him up the wall first.

I feel bad for mehru didn't ever stay in an engagement because Rafey accused her of being a gold digger, when she's treated the same way at Shah's place she choosing to stay in a place where she's not valued kind of put me off! Woh bhi just after being taunted by Saman Shah!

Mehru saying Shahnawaz that correcting him is now the purpose of her life, gives so much importance to him in her life! His actions would control her responses! It's like all she'll be doing is Shahnawaz ke ird-gird ghoomna, to correct him! He does not deserve that much attention, time or thought! This is why I felt she shouldn't have told him that!

But your point also makes sense!

Since the name of the drama is Iqtidar which means power, I am thinking more about what it means to stay or go. If she leaves on her own terms, then she has power. If she leaves on his terms, then she loses and he is the one with power. That is why her choosing to stay is actually a power move and a kind of middle finger to Shaw. She is going to dig her heels in and challenge him on every front and show him that he cannot play these games and use her.

With Rafay, she chose to dump him before he can he can play games. So that was a power move as well.

It totally makes sense as you put it. I just want him to start showing his yearning for Mehru because I know they will try using that second marriage shit here too. It is a trope they can't seem to lose no matter what. I really don't care if she stays with him in the end or not but I do want to see him yearning and suffering for her and please no death trope for Mehru. I want her to live happily in the end achieving everything she wants, whether with Shahnawaz or not, totally depends on how he changes.

Given that this is a hit for Green, am expecting to see a happy ending. The drama does not give the vibe of tragedy. There are too many absurd characters.

Imagine if instead of Mehru, Kiran(Siyani) was in Shah house now...she would've gotten both mother and son arrested under false domestic violence charges and created a media ruckus over the divorce threat

Yeah that's my hope too. Honestly this is a show I am thoroughly enjoying without any sad vibes and dukhi bari female leads. It has just been pure pure entertainment and hope it remains the same.
