Exactly. They cannot support her and her family but want to put restrictions on them and that useless mother instead of standing with the daughter who puts food on the table is siding with this so called ristedar who only comes to find fault in her daughters.

I don't understand Mehru's family at all. I think Chachi just wants Mehru married before Rafay changes his mind but why is MEhru's mom so dense?

Coz she is a bechari, dukhyari middle-class bewa mother. And frankly, given her situation, it makes practical sense to get Mehru married to Shahnawaz
