Coming to choosing baby over mother is a natural reaction for any mother to feel it that way I guess. On a lighter note I said something similar while pregnant my DH said I'm talking rubbish due to lethal cocktail of TV overdose syndrome and pregnancy hormones.smiley37

There's also a degree and variety of those complications no? . In high risk cases such as abhiras , where doctors couldn't control the blood loss , there was no way she would survive ..blood.loss in a c section toh hota hi hai there's no escape to that ..one of my known friends suffered life threatening blood loss right after a normal delivery n her uterus had to be removed otherwise it was difficult to save her..each case is different, hers was a very rare occurance ..

To each their own ..I believe to abort the baby is a better than him living an orphaned life or being born with a disability ...fetus do get aborted in unwanted pregnancies too ..i don't negate a mother's attachment to their babies ..that's not what I'm trying to say..

@red when did she say she want to get pregnant to solidify Armaan's position in family? she wanted to get pregnant not to soothe Vidya but to give Armaan his real family. Yes, planning to sacrifice her own life while giving birth and depriving Armaan of the only person who was his real family (herself) was pathetic even if she was made to feel worthless a hundred times during those three months because of supposed infertility. Nothing can justify her lack of self-worth (for me) because she was brought up to love herself.

I know she said she wants to give arman his family . But at the same time she was seeking her mils validation & family's too , for herself , arman and her baby ..this child is their waaris , kaveri has been repeating this line like a parrot ..after the baby came , vidyas attitude changed towards both of them ..they're back to poddar house from out house ..they're getting all the love and attention frm their family ....isn't that solidifying armans position? Like literal words were not said but it means the same.

IMO, Abhira should have consulted doctor before moving ahead with her complicated pregnancy.

she could have taken a second opinion and conceived when she become physically fit to carry child and if not then could have opted for surrogacy which is very common nowadays, after all Poddars being affluent family can afford expenses related to surrogacy.

See, abortion is not a crime, in medical emergency it happens ,like My cousin also couldn't proceed further with her second pregnancy due to some complications, child heartbeat wasn't developing something like that.

So it happens in real life also and people take doctors advice and when you aren't a doctor please don't behave like one and don't expect miracle to happen because you may never know what might happen in such complicated situation.

Ps: though we can't label Abhira as a bad mother or unfit for being mother coz women aren't learned mother's, all start learning step by step with time and she is taking good care of baby. Every mother does.

Agree, Down's syndrome or other congenital abnormalities are more severe warranting an abortion. I'm talking about avoiding only for the manageable complications.

Having placenta previa condition myself, I was tensed initially, but IMO post surgery heavy bloodloss isn't a big complication because normally doctors keep the blood available whenever it's a c-section(part of the protocol). I had 2 c-sections with heavy blood transfusions, to complicate matters I was made to wait overdue owing to hospital protocol. I quite young in age the first time around so was pretty scary.

My friend had an episiotomy(uterine tear) while attempting for normal delivery first time and she had 2 more babies after that(a planned and another unplanned) she was monitored and being offered elective c-section option in the UK.
