The article says public statement released by BOTH THEIR LAWYERS. So it is not just hers.
It is a common occurrence for public figures to release joint statements informing public of such things. Otherwise media will start hounding them and speculating what happened, why did it happen. So I suppose to avoid that they announced it themselves, though the speculation will still happen as to what may have gone wrong. Else someone would have found out and made a thread on Reddit.
They have maintained a very low profile so no one could have seen this coming. If she has wanted to wash dirty linen in public, to pehle hi kar leti. It is clear something big has happened to result in a divorce at this stage in their life.
I don't know what happened, but since when did bringing your spouse to parties mean you can't cheat on them? Anyways, relationships can break for a number of reasons, not necessarily cheating.
