I agree, this is such a weird pairing. Vikrant is considered a good actor so I don't understand who thought he'd look good next to Shanaya. She'd be better off debuting with another star kid.

My guess is that Vedang or Agastya were considered still too new and without starpower. They must have felt picking Vikrant would help raise Shanaya's status and make her seem more like a real actress than just another star kid debuting with another star kid.
