I was only talking about my observations about Ranbir in relationships, which many others have noticed. Someone else brought psychology in.

Mahesh Bhatt has openly said that he finds marriage to be an archaic concept. He’s not gonna be some filmy dad who will react in anyway to his son in law cheating. I highly doubt he had any say in Alia’s decision to marry Ranbir one way or the other. Beyond that, I think he was mostly an absentee father anyway. The bigger influence on Alia was her mother. Soni was a young aspiring actress who fell in love with her married director and then became his second wife because Mahesh didn’t want to divorce his first wife. Alia’s ideas or examples of love and marriage are skewed to say the least.

I don't think either one is planning anything or has premeditated strategies to make the other person look bad. Alia is overeager to show how cute and bubbly she is and speaks too much to make it look that way. The lipstick line got blown up for no reason but I can bet anything that she was just trying to brag about how naturally beautiful she is - her mother also publicly praises her for her white "slavic" skin tone. She was trying to show that her old husband also thinks she's too beautiful and doesn't require lipstick to look good like others do.

Ranbir is a typical misogynist uncle - the types that sit on Whatsapp all day and send religious forwards and wife jokes. There is a whole desi population out there who thinks fat pregnancy jokes are funny. Or jokes about how their wife is too loud, talks too much, etc. This is classic backward uncle behavior and that's what Ranbir is. He fits in perfectly with a large part of the desi male population. He's also leaned into it now with the delusional male fantasy movies like Tu Jhooti something and Animal.

We can only speculate what goes inside Alia's mind and how her thinking pattern works...
