Sonam Kapoor has created quite a buzz on the internet. The reason is that she was one of the select few Indians to be invited to the Dior Spring-Summer 2025 showcase at the ongoing Paris Fashion Week 2024. The mother of one has always had a reputation for doing something big and out of the box on the fashion front when it comes to stepping out in style for couture events. This time too she left no stone unturned and churned out a rather interesting all black biker girl chic meets ladylike lace ensemble to stun the Parisian fashion weekgoers.

Sonam Kapoor wore a black cotton maxi dress with a corset fit upper bodice, Mandarin collars, a voluminous frilled skirt and sleeves, along with gold buttons to add a touch of sparkle to her look. She topped this dress up with a black trench coat that featured floral cross-stitch embroidery on the chest, back and hemline. This was perfectly teamed with a pair of black knee-length leather boots with a chunky biker chic vibe full of silver zips and studs. The entire ensemble including the boots were handpicked pieces from the Dior Cruise 2025 collection.

Sonam's sister and celebrity stylist Rhea Kapoor accessorised the look with silver and pearl encrusted and indigo hand-painted earrings that were adorned on her ears like cuffs from Amrapali Jewels. Added to this was a pearl embellished bull ring that added an element of femininity and edginess to the look at the same time. Last but not least, Sonam wore a fishnet black veil across the face which was embellished with Swarovski crystals that gave the look a lot more character and elegance.

On the hair and makeup front, Sonam wore her long black tresses open in a centre-parted look. Makeup artist Namrata Soni added the perfect strokes of glam to her face with a dewy and bronzed foundation, bushy brows, a wash of bronzer on her eyelids, eyeliner to define the eyes, chiselled cheeks and a jawline, a rust-toned blush on her cheeks, and a rose lip colour to tie the look together.

Dior has named actress Sonam Kapoor a brand ambassador, reflecting the luxury label’s ambitions in the rapidly growing Indian market.

The Bollywood star, who has 35 million followers on Instagram, will represent the collections created by Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of womenswear at Dior, WWD has learned exclusively.

“A multitalented personality, the actress, producer and fashion icon henceforth embodies the audacity, grace and elegance of Dior style, a femininity constantly reinvented. More than ever, this unique alliance celebrates the powerful cultural ties that have united Dior and India since the very beginning of the house,” Dior said in a statement.

Considered Bollywood royalty, Kapoor is the daughter of actor and producer Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor, a costume designer and former model.

Having made her screen debut in 2007 in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Saawariya,” she found popular success with romantic comedies including “I Hate Luv Storys” and super-productions like “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.”

Kapoor has also won critical acclaim in more dramatic roles like “Neerja,” the story of flight purser Neerja Bhanot, who was killed during the hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in 1986 after saving the lives of many hostages on board.

The actress, who is married to businessman Anand Ahuja, is preparing to return to the screen next year after taking a career break to welcome her first child.

Kapoor has parlayed her popularity into endorsements for brands including L’Oréal Paris, Zoya Jewels and watchmaker IWC. A front row regular, she also made a runway appearance in Paris as the bride in Ralph & Russo’s fall 2017 haute couture show.

Her appearance at the Dior ready-to-wear show in September generated a total media impact value of $2.7 million, according to Launchmetrics. Dior once again won Paris Fashion Week with a total MIV of $82.7 million, the data research and insights company said.

Dior showed its pre-fall 2023 collection last year in front of the Gateway of India, one of Mumbai’s best-loved landmarks, an opportunity to showcase its longstanding collaboration with the city’s Chanakya ateliers and the Chanakya School of Craft.

“It’s an honour to be a part of Dior’s story as they continue to push the boundaries and redefine creativity and elegance in the world of fashion. Each of their collections present a truly unique vision with intricate craftsmanship, celebrating heritage in a way that deeply resonates with my own sense of style,” Kapoor said.

“This partnership is another step in the beautiful cultural synergy that has connected Dior and India over the years, and I’m excited to see where we take it next,” she added.

India’s luxury market is the fastest growing in Asia, and brands are vying to sign local faces. Bulgari has snapped up Priyanka Chopra, Louis Vuitton works with Deepika Padukone, and Tiffany & Co. has joined forces with Ranveer Singh.

Sonam leading her best life. Fashion,glamour, wealth, she wanted and has it all. She and Anand seem to be a great couple.On the same page on their outlook to life.

Everybody,however rich, wants to be part of the Mumbai social scene.This is where you can show off your wealth in front of the media.No one knows what designer dress a socialite in Delhi wore for a Diwali party.

Sonam has bought a place in Mumbai..I think there will be only occasional visits to Delhi.

I see that Isha and Radhika too want in. Everyone is welcome including Mrs vaccine.

On the one hand she has the look and the fashionista persona to carry some of these outfits and be a good model for them. On the other hand she’s been out of focus and limelight as a professional for a while now so how did she get this deal? Every time she’s been in the news recently it’s been directly or indirectly about how rich she married.
