While Laapata Ladies was certainly good, it seems like a poor choice for the Oscars over a film like GOAT Life. GOAT Life offered a realistic portrayal, with a stunning performance by Prithviraj and exceptional direction. Plus, it was based on a true story. If it had been a Bollywood film, I believe it would have been submitted. The Oscar nominations often overlook regional cinema, and this pattern continues year after year.

Haven’t seen GOAT life but Laapata Ladies was such a cute and touching story. Loved it.

You are right that true stories should be preferred. Especially if they’re well made.
