I have been a silent reader on this forum for quite some time and actually enjoy reading through this particular thread because everyone is fun and some of the posts genuinely make me laugh.
However, I just wanted to put my 2 cents forth on today's 10 second scene where RP supposedly faltered. Now I understand why everyone felt a bit disappointed with that scene (though I personally did not, because I cannot differentiate "bad" from "good", but it's a me problem) . I think as actors in the current ITV , they continuously shoot for more than 14 hours per day for a daily show whose ridiculous plotline is so far removed from reality that if we as audience can't connect , think of them who are actually enacting it. Unlike ,others I feel RP was never bad when he entered, infact he was trying to emotionally connect with the already established character and was just biding his time .Despite working 7 days a week , he hasn't taken one day off since he joined, so giving them space to make mistakes in their performances once in while and improve would be better I feel. He has never disappointed me acting wise until now and when I saw takes on the scene that was being criticized, I mostly attributed it to the writer and the director ordering him to bring out those over the top emotions. I think they wanted to show how he is grieving the loss of an unborn biological child who he may never be able to parent in his lifetime, but I agree that scene could have been written much better.
So having said that, I wanted to also point out that he did really well in the entire Ruhi confrontation scene where he puts her in her rightful place 😂
