In generally in telugu families also will celebrate these kinda rasams...

VARAPOOJA - celebrates at groom place, bride family members (only men) will bless groom . It's like making relationship official.

Poolupandlu - celebrate at bride place ..groom family members blesses bride with saree, jewellery, fruits and sweets...

So nowadays most of the families doing these rasams on the day of engagement.

Even in our families we do Varapooja but that happens the previous day of the wedding and the bride's family performs Pooja of the groom and even the groom's family blesses the bride with gifts etc
