Because he's delusional . He has great confidence in his sacrificing nature , so he thinks he'll be able to let go of her when the time comes to a man that'd make her happy , give her the love and appreciation she deserves and most importantly, whom she loves aka Rahul ( he thinks ) . But itna asan nehi hai.. He's by nature a jealous and possessive man . He won't be able to let her go in the hands of another man .

He thinks he's control over his heart and he'll do what is expected of him by his snooty family and marry Arshi. He doesn't know it's his heart that has control over him .Not the other way round.

The sooner he understands, the less mess he'll be in . If he's too late in realizing, as in the day before his marriage with Arshi as some are predicting, he'll gain a lifelong enemy in Arshi and her mother who'll always try to meddle in his married life with Jhanak.
