May be to make it more dramatic and to make it believable why Ammu now wants to get married to him within 8 days as he was planning to run away.

I think she made a drama of some illness after Virat divorce so he considers himself responsible for hurting her so much by falling in love with wrong girl. That's why he always keeps quiet and does not want to hurt her . She is just taking advantage of it.
