If I can sympathize with Imlie, I can sympathize with Surya too. His sacrifice needs to means something Gags and that was possible only if he was in love with Anjali. Warna it was easy for him to marry Imlie because there was no what if or better alternative waiting for him. This adds a whole other dimension to his otherwise flat personality. There is nothing likeable in his character for now except that he is taking his promises seriously and looking out for Imlie and is super smart to tackle his family and Imlie.
Yes, even if this is a dream or a flashback, there's no need to show such explicit romance because the audience doesn't care about the details of third angle romance. Them telling Surya and Anjali were in love was enough. This is just extra to tolerate.
I will give him gaalis if he does something morally incorrect with Anjali while he is Imlie ka husband. I want him to keep his marital promises. Uske life ke past ka kuch nahi kar sakte coz it was a fact.
