I think Armaan yet doesn’t understand the importance he gives to Abhira yet.

He consciously and subconsciously wants her reaction in everything he does or says.

Him thinking about himself and keeping himself above what others tell him is probably the first step towards his learning of self love.

With Abhira’s incident, it jolted him towards both the realisation.
