marrying Mama's daughter is very common in Maharashtra. The gotra is different and hence there is no medical issues, so it is allowed traditionally.

In fact there is a ritual during marriage, when bride and groom comes for gruh pravesh, the sister of the groom, asks for a gift to let them in. Nowadays they take some gift or money but in earlier times, they used to take a promise that his daughter will become her bahu. And later when he starts looking for a groom for the daughter, first permission would be sought from the sister, that whether they want to arrange their marriage. Sometimes if the man look for another proposal, then sister would get angry that he didnt consider her son as a good proposal for his daughter.

2 marriages are illegal. So technically his marriage to Mrunmayee is invalid and he can be jailed for marrying her after marrying Gunja.... But these serials are stretching the creative liberty...... there are a couple shows on colors marathi too there they show the father of the leads having 2 wives.
