I just saw Adhya-Anuj scenes, and they make me really uncomfy. Anuj clearly failed as a father (for all the shaming Upma gets for not loving Adhya enough). He has clearly trauma-dumped enough on her that she's 'trying to protect him' from a bad relationship-choice. How the eff is she allowed to compare his love for her to his love for his ex-wife? How the eff is he allowed to talk to his teenage daughter about his pathetic emotional cheating on Shruti in such an escalatory manner?

Like yeah, parents leaving and breaking up badly is shit on children, but be a decent adult and manage your emotions enough to help the child move on with no bitterness in life?

The kid is manipulative enough to force her father into a marriage (with no regard for Shruti's life). It is Anuj's fault that Adhya has so many complexes.

He just needed to own up that they both are allowed to take their time move on from Upma. That his equation with her was different than Adhya's equation with her.

Also has done nothing to undo MD's manipulations on an impressionable child with abandonment issues.

Clearly Father of the Year.

It flops because Anupamaa is an abuser and enabler. This show didn't even need a love angle to be successful. It needed to show Anupamaa live on her own terms and be a good role model. Imagine used to have shows where women used to move on from abusive marriages with other strong women. The love angles were either minimal or nonexistent. They could have taken the plot from Akhir Kyon?/ Amrit. And made a good, high-drama love story that did not devolve into upmaa being an abuser and enabler
