Shoaib Bashir to Mukesh Kumar, Very smart from Shoaib Bashir. Goes round the wicket and gets one to bounce up after pitching. A fuller delivery angling onto off, should have been an easy defence but the ball bounces extra and catches an edge off the splice. Root at first slip gathers it at beyond chest height. India fall short of 400 runs. out Caught by Root!! Mukesh Kumar c Root b Shoaib Bashir 0(3)

Shoaib Bashir to Mukesh Kumar, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

India all out for 396 after 112 overs.

We can't say it is a comfortable score, but, there is a possibility of making them out within this score, it will be great.

Not often that a team would be disappointed after scoring almost 400 runs in the first innings, but this is one of those days. India got a massive contribution from Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top, as the youngster showed great composure and technique to notch up his first double hundred at International level. It was an innings where he looked untroubled and didn't even offer any real half chances, while wickets fell at the other end. Everyone in India's middle order got starts but couldn't make it big, and that would be a cause for concern for the hosts. England were miserly with their bowling and sharp with their fielding, making the Indians work for every run. James Anderon at the ripe age of 41 ended up bowling 25 overs of disciplined seam bowling where he never left the fourth stump channel, and ended up being the pick of the bowlers with 3/47.

What a disappointment. Only Jaiswal scored a mammoth 209 while the rest got out way belwo 200. No contribution or intent from other players.

Shoaib Bashir, who hadn't bowled too much in his domestic season thus far, ended up toiling for 38 overs, and picked up three wickets for his troubles. The other youngster Rehan Ahmed also made his mark with a three-fer, extracting extra bounce to trouble the batters. This is still a very good batting wicket but the odd ball does bounce awkwardly, and that should excite the Indian spinners

"Maybe it's not easy to score big on this wicket, that's why no one else got more than 34, and Jaiswal's innings was something like Ollie Pope's one which propelled India to 400? Or perhaps it was just poor from the rest, in spite of a double hundred India only got 400? In that case, England would probably Bazball to 600..." We're soon to find out, Deepankar DM
