Zaid never got proper screentime but I feel Wahaj tried his best even in those small scenes. And unlike Murtasim or Saad , he is a very flawed hero whom everyone was not supposed to like anyway.
Part of me feels Badar bagged Wahaj for this role because the hero has to romance not one but TWO heroines in this drama 𤣠And Wahaj can certainly bring his element in romance.
Romance with Ayra and the toxic banter with MJ didnāt work for me for the first half of the drama⦠but he really got into it after Asifās harassment gets revealed. I feel like that was his turning point when he really switched it on. So Iāve ended up enjoying the cute Zaid Ayra moments as well as the recent ones with MJ - although the side by side montage of Ayra made it a bit problematic for me personally but thatās just me. If you watch the zaid MJ bits separately, they work much better š
Iāve loved a lot of the angst scenes but if weāre strictly talking romance, my favorites of his in Mein so far (I donāt know if Badar will give us more š) have definitely been the first 2 hugs with Ayra, the tie scene between them and with MJ the bed scene where he holds her hand and the pool scene where MJ tells him he doesnāt have to love her back and that her love is enough š„¹
Yep I definitely think thatās why Badar got Wahaj to play Zaid. Not one but 2 biwis here! š¤£

On paper, Zaid is an interesting and complex character. I donāt blame Wahaj for choosing it cos he probably didnāt knew that his character would be sidelined so badly.

Yes. He had just done 2 ideal husband roles and now probably wanted to play a grey problematic husband. I only know one reservation he had before signing Mein - according to what I heard Nadia Khan say in the Kya Drama Hai review ages ago (this was when TB and MPHT was still on air and Mein had been signed) - that he specifically asked Badar to personally direct it instead of the the AD. Apparently halfway through the shoot of MPHT Badar got sick and the rest of MPHT was completed by the AD. Which explains a lot of the even worse direction issues with MPHT. So Nadia Khan mentioned that he made that specification before signing it that Badar would invest in this project throughout instead of leaving it in the hands of the AD. Valid request imo - it must have been annoying for any seasoned actor to complete half the shoot with an AD instead of the actual director.
Also he probably signed it after just hearing about the character and not reading the script and the focus on Zaid. Iām saying this because even if he had read the first few episodes of the script it was quite obvious MJ is the main character and not Zaid. And if he did read it and still signed it ? Oh boy. Bad call indeed. In any case Wahaj has mentioned several times before that for him the key to signing a drama is the director - not the script. Which is a different tactic than a lot of his fellow actors. I donāt agree with it but itās his choice. I do hope, however that the feedback on MPHT and Mein has seriously made him rethink his trust in just the director. Coz script is key man. Like.. I cannot BELIEVE that I started this drama because of him and his character has ended up being the one I like the least. Itās frankly shocking to me as his fan š¤¦š»āāļø

Zaid is supposed to be the Yang to MJās Yin , the ice to MJās fire . Itās the execution of this concept which has failed. He probably thought that after the marriage his character would be the central focus along with MJ. His next project has a very good creative team though.
I have noticed that Wahaj only works with actresses around his age . All his recent actresses have been 30+. For some other popular heroes, the actresses are getting younger and younger.

I thought Nadia was talking about Ayeza. She said Badar's next project has a super star signed on and the super star has specified they will not shoot until the director is present on set. To me, this sounded much more like Ayeza than Wahaj. In various Mein BTS, we see Wahaj trying to give some direction in scenes and Badar is not present.

In another episode of Kya Drama Hai, Nadia said while MPHT was being shot, Big Bang booked Wahaj for second project. Big Bang seems to have done this with Bilal and Hania in the past. From what I have read, actors do not know what the second project will be when they sign the multi-project contract.
Nope. Definitely it was Wahaj because Nadia had previously mentioned during MPHT reviews about Badar being MIA during the shoots and the AD having to deal with the entire burden of the shoots. And now she mentioned that āsomeā actor had specified for Badar to actually be present this time - definitely Wahaj. Because MPHT was the project which had Badar missing through half the shoot - which had Wahaj and not Ayeza.
Itās not necessary for the BTS to show everyone present on set. Itās pretty random š¤·āāļø Besides Badar and wahaj are close enough for him to humor wahaj with the camera once in a while. Doesnāt seem like a big deal
As for booking in advance⦠it just seems like a dumb idea for actors to do without reading the script first. I hope Mein is the last one we are seeing with Badar and wahaj together. Both these shows should give Wahaj some food for thought. It shouldnāt always be a money thing. Now critics and fans both expect better script choices from him so I hope he does better

The point is Badar is present in the BTS with Ayeza.
We have seen Wahaj ke BTS where Badar is not present and Wahaj is giving instruction to other actors on set (the blogger scene) or to the camera guy on doing a second take (the mahol banao jaanu bts).
