channel started playing with CID in a bid to take it off air. They couldn't just end it. They needed a reason to. Low TRPs is a perfect reason and low TRPs happening because people didn't know when CID would be on air is the channel's strategy.

The actors probably knew before the fans. They just never said anything. For fans, the channel was very subtle at first. Moving the show 10 minutes, 15 minutes, announcing well in advance that there would be no epi because of some reason or the other. Acceptable stuff. The actors probably understand faster than us that it was a sham.
