I was also thinking the same. Prem was leading a middle class life in rishikesh but apart from taking care of his family, he was also sending money to Avni and sending donation to that hospital or whatever it was. Prem ki harkato pe muje hamesha neil ke dialogue apt lagta hai- "mahanta hai mahanta...kam nai honi chahiye"

I think Prem left his shares , but he had a boatload of personal savings with him which he took away with him when they left for Rishikesh

I think he was going for a shocked expression but that eyebrow arch got a bit higher so it looked like he was pleasantly surprised hearing this instead of looking shocked
