What is the backstory of Armaan and his father? Why is he treated differently?

His father married a poor woman and Dadi didn't accept her. His father was too weak a man and couldn't take a stand for his wife . Before Dadi and poddar family could throw her out, she got pregnant, then she died in childbirth after giving birth to Armaan and dadi happily gets madhav married to her favourite Vidya.

Though Vidya (Rohit's mom) is Madhav 's second wife but family treats her as the first & only wife as they never accepted armaan's biological mom.

So Armaan is treated as an illegitimate child & feels he is a burden on poddar family and since he is indebted to them for raising him & not throwing him out or giving him up for adoption, he keeps sacrificing for his family

I fail to understand why he doesn't share a good relationship with his father though. It would have been nice to see that the father son are each other's support system.

Why would any son like a father who is so weak to stand up to his wife being cruelly treated.

I don't think he was that weak. Perhaps he couldn't defend her like Armaan himself can't for Abhira. Unless they bring some other story like abandonning her or something. If his mother died after giving birth and his father remarried then what's wrong in it ? The entire house is scared of daadisa and the fufasa. So why is he only pissed at his father ?

Yeh lawyer ke family khud kitne law break karte hain.

Apne khoon ko illegitimate bolte hain and accept nahi karte usko. Don't understand why would anyone threat their own bloodline like that?

I don't remember the exact dialogue but, Madhav was outside Dadi-phufa room listening to their convo, & he said in his mind that thank god Arman is not like me, i couldn't stand up for my love but history wont repeat...
