Wow. I dont have any opinion on the detailed historical information you've given. I found some comfort in the sentence where you mentioned that Oscars have improved after Weinstein.

But the sentence above I take with a pinch of salt. Just like mentioned somewhere before, even I would change a lot of awards that I voted for 20-25 years ago and so will many more people that I've spoken to. Its the change in cultures, westernization, modernisation, etc of movie making and movie consumption.

Not as many as they deserved though. I think this year will be very tough for Pankaj especially in Best Actor Popular. I personally think Ranbir was the best this year but irrespective of that Ranveer, SRK and Vicky the other commercially successful mainstream actors have also done well in their movies. I dont remember clearly but Irrfan won for Angrezi Medium when no other A-rated mainstream actor was nominated so that will probably be a factor. I will be pleasantly surprised and very happy if Pankaj or Vikrant or even Sunny win though

Movies did well BO wise but nothing to write home about acting.

Jawan was entertaining. Acting was ok I guess.

Dunki was fun one time watch - SRK’s acting was weirdest. Weird voice modulation and ott expressions at places.

I agree on Dunki..SRK's acting is spot on when he plays 60+ year old..younger version is just blaah..both in Jawaan and Dunki

Pathaan..less said the better..like why even does that movie exist -_- atleast I am glad every person who was calling Pathaan amazing has excluded it from the top 10 movies of the year..or is even calling it basic and average..I would perhaps put it in the worst movies of the year. Fighter is also looking no better..Sid Anand needs to be banned from making movies..he is just so mid.

Yes thats the discussion though. He was decent in Jawan and that might be enough with the mammoth box office collection as well. Rewind to his winning Best Actor awards for Dil To Pagal Hai and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai over the likes of Sunny Deol in Border, Anil Kapoor in Virasat and Ajay Devgan in Zakhm.

I didnt like Dunki. If anyone, only Vicky deserves a Supporting Award for it but his role may be too short compared to a Tota Roy Choudhary in RARKPK.

If I remember Sanjay Dutt swept all awards for Vaastav? Ranveer won quite a few for Padmavat,(quite misogynistic and creepy as Alaudin) didn't he very recently? SRK won for Baazigar (blatant revenge story)

Sorry, I didn't understand why Ranbir may not win because his role is problematic? His career best performance in Rockstar was also a problematic character right? I think Shahid deserved for Kabir Singh over Ranveer for Gully Boy but that was the first and second best performance of that year for me so not too harsh. Also Vanga maybe didnt have the pull then as much as the Akhtars and Excel but I think that changes with Animal's success.
