Nobody called you regressive. Poddars are regressive. They think women's only place is inside the 4 walls of their house. And their only job is to cook, clean and take care of the kids. It is people who keep such mentality who are regressive.
There's a difference between treating cooking as a basic skill and using it to measure a woman's value. It is the latter that's happening, which is highly problematic. Do you see any character praising a male character for knowing cooking like Ruhi or criticizing for not knowing cooking like Abhira? You won't, because acc. to these people, cooking is only a woman's job. That idea is what was being called out.
Abhira did not deliberately cause the wardrobe malfunction. No self-respecting woman would do that. And what do you want her to apologize for.. being forced to wear an outfit she was not comfortable with, nobody bothering to check on the new bahu, wearing an outfit well for the first time or helping a girl in need? Accidents happen. The least a family can do is not create a tamasha out of it because you hate the girl. And what's wrong with her upbringing? My cousin hated wearing a saree till she was in her late 20s and her mom never forced her to wear it. Does that mean her mom has done the wrong upbringing?
It is called personal choice. Where is it written that a woman should know how to wear a saree or a mother should always teach a daughter to wear a saree?
