I guess he trusted Zoya...He was busy shooting himself during the time The Archies was made.

He certainly knew the story and through Suhana he would get info about the shooting. But I suppose, he did not interfere in the shooting process.

And whatever many write, to me, this musical movie wasn't that bad. It had a lot of things I liked. It wasn't a 'deep' story but a relatable one...like Maroon wrote in a comment: a light, nice and safe family movie for Christmas time.

The 13 year old in my family (who dislikes overtly romantic movies) liked it...especially all the friendships parts because it was very relatable to her...and the younger boys liked especially everything that had to do with the dancing, the bandsinging parts and the town with the park...all three absolutely could relate to the ideas to get the signatures and saving the park. Also the administrative part isn't something new to them...they know how decisions in a small town are made as we live in a part of a small town and had a similar problem to solve.

We have watched the movie with interruptions because the youngest boy can't read the longer (German) subtitles as quickly as the elder ones, so he would ask for a stop when he didn't understand enough and we had small discussions in between. The elder ones were also proud to understand a lot of the spoken English parts.

There had been no crticism for any performance, only for how characters behaved.

Almost took me four hours to watch majority of the film. I had to pause the movie every few minutes because my eyes kept rolling to the back of my skull. Yes, it was THAT boring. Kudos though, unlike the first few minutes of Mohenjo Dharo, at least I wasn’t succumbing into an open mouthed coma, so that’s something. smiley20

Let’s start with the bad in alphabetical order.

Agastya Nanda: What the fek was that? I almost fell face down and became an Abhishek Bachan fan after watching him onscreen. I had to punch myself in the face to snap out of it because NOT IN THIS JANAM MI LORD! ✊🏼 I felt like I was watching a hybrid of Shweta and Abhishek Bachan and that in itself is something made out of nightmares and not something anyone has asked for. It was bad enough that he looks like his mum and uncle but he also sucks as actor as well. He was stiff and awkward AF. I was also very distracted by his mouth. To me, it looks like his lips dry up quickly and when he talks, a string of saliva will show up and all you could do is stare at him, hoping he’ll swallow the excess so you can breathe again. Then he smiles and I want to die looking at those long skinny teeth. May the Lord strike me blind for having to endure two Abhishek Bachans in one single lifetime.

Khushi Kapoor: I cannot believe both Sri Devi’s daughters are such terrible actresses. Khushi is literally all limbs and no grace in this film. The only reason why she may come across as likeable was because the character she played was sweet and easy to like. Otherwise, she’s a terrible dancer, extremely stiff and without grace. I almost felt sorry for her when I was watching her flay around, like girl stop. She also shares a common factor with Agastya and that is my problem with her mouth and teeth. I don’t know if it’s the surgery but the area around her mouth is really weird. I noticed it when she was singing. Also throughout the entire film, it looked like she was struggling to keep her mouth closed because her buck-teeth was fighting tooth and nail to pop out and say hello. Since I’ve just been mean, I will say that she was more tolerable than Agastya.

Suhana Khan: As her self-proclaimed e-step mother, I tried really hard to like her but she disappointed me. I’m sorry SRK, I love you more than the moon and stars, but I cannot warm up to her onscreen. More than anyone else, it felt like Suhana was just reading her lines. You know how in school when you’re pretending to look through your bag but your teacher still asks you to read a paragraph and with a groan you try to get into character but it just comes across as dramatic and theatrical? That’s the vibe she gave me. This isn’t theatre, it’s a movie. The only two scenes where I saw a bit of potential was when she was arguing with Khushi and confronting her dad. Other than that, no just no. She dances nice, much much much better than Khushi, but I kept getting distracted with her Malaika Arora posture. WTF was the constant dancing and walking around with her chest thrusting out? If this was her interpretation of looking snooty and stuck up then it didn’t work in her favour because she just looked stiff and awkward.

Saved the best to last. Sorry I don’t know who the other cast members were and I’m too lazy to google their names. Whoever and wherever you are, I hope you’re all well. None of you stood out for me.

Vedang Raina: A talented eye candy for sure. He was the most natural and confident looking compared to the rest. Extra bonus points because he looks a lot like Ranveer Singh during his clean-shaven-hair-slicked-back Lootera days. He’s easy on the eyes, acts well, dances nice and has great screen presence. Despite Zoya trying to thrust Agastya in front row on the dance floor, I kept staring at Vedang because he stands out. He definitely is hero material and has potential to make it big in Bollywood.

In conclusion

Overall, I have a two movie rule before I write someone off for all of eternity. I’ll give Khushi and Suhana one more chance to prove themselves. Lmao, I don’t even know who the hell I think I am for giving anyone a chance, let alone two super rich girls, but it is what it is and I am what I am. Alas, I cannot extend the same courtesy to Agastya by virtue of the fact that he looks too much like his uncle and I don’t like his teeth. Thank you and come again.

You need to have marbles for eyes to not notice all this.😆🤣

Agree with the way, the ensemble cast is dismissed mostly in media...but I won't interpret that as SRK's PR behind it (if he even has one)...to me it's clearly apple-polishing as media want to get SRK back for interviews.

This had also been a discussion point between the kids and me...they said that the hotel should be built, but not exactly in the middle of the town and not in the park but maybe touching it at one side or near the park...

As for the library, they said that there certainly would be one in the town to read without wanting to get paid.

OMG...Why did I read your review for Agastya? smiley18 Now I feel like sending him a bib!

I promise myself not to ever see him again and if at all I have to, I won't look at his mouth and his saliva. smiley36

I agree on Khushi's mouth though.

After surgery Janhavi - All b00bs & a$$

and so yes if you did not read the comic you will wonder WHY?? But that is how it is in the comic and you would have understood their personalities if you grew up on Archies....smiley36

Agree with you.

I’m a 90s kid and The Archies was my go to comics in my childhood. And the movie is pretty much based on the comics only which are just about the adventures of these characters. Archie was always a confused teenager who was jumping between Betty and Veronica.

I like the movie but it could have been if they had reduced the number of songs and kept a tighter script.
