It has been long since I visited the forum let alone making a post. But for a while I had this intense urge to write something on our beloved TB. I am not sure about the others, even after 5+ months, but I am not over with it. I donât have lots of hope for the S2 to have the same chokehold the S1 had on me, so, I resort to rewatching S1 episodes and reliving those beautiful memories. So, after seeing some BTS of TB recently and reading some comments of the fandom on those, here I am, putting my thoughts on my most favourite âPostcard Shotsâ of TB (and also at a risk of no body giving a damn on scenes of an off-air show, but that is OK, I know this is a madness!) â of course these are apart from their very own posters, nothing can beat those tantalizing TB posters!
The Picture Perfects: My favourite postcard-shots of TB
The magic of TB, though heavily relied upon the enchanting screen presence of the leads that had completely bewitched and hypnotized a vast audience across the globe, was also an example of where a lot of other things coming together with an absolute balance to create a perfect recipe. The direction, camera work and editing (at least up to 30+ episodes) were crisp and brisk â the story progressed well without a single dull moment. Many a times, the melodramatic âmeâ would be gasping at the screen wanting to have more, but the makers would only give a fleeting moment â a mere couple of seconds. So, I would rewind and rewatch these âshotsâ for an umpteenth number of times to have my heartâs fill, wishing that theyâd have given us a teeny-weeny bit more. These shots are momentary, crafted with perfection to fit into a bigger and important scene, yet their impact is heartfelt, leaving an unsatiable yearning for more. However, I have come to realize that these âPostcard-shotsâ, as I like to call them, are beautifully executed while leaving the audience craving for more and are beauties themselves as the way they areâ aesthetically, less is always more!
With the recent resurfacing of BTS, though I want to hate the editors for chopping some scenes bluntly and depriving us of some beautiful Me-Mu scenes, I still feels that these âshotsâ are still top-notch, and I would not want anything to be changed about them.
So, here goes my favourite âPostcard-shotsâ that lasted only for a few seconds but left everlasting imprints.
Episode 16 â The almost hug: my absolute favourite!

The BTS of which that has urged me to write this harangue!
A woman who was left frightened and terrorized with an impending unknown danger, finally had found her haven. She let it all go, knowing that he is here for her. A man who was worried sick for the well-being of his beloved, had his life within his embrace. His voice a soft caress laid with concern, his eyes taking her sight, the slight inhale breathing the smell of her hair, without leaving the armour he held. They are still at the enemyâs territory; he cannot let his guards down and release a breath. Despite everything, they deserved this moment together after the hours of painful separation.
The angle shown may not have justified the closeness they shared, but it gave more for sure â she laying bear with all her vulnerabilities in his embrace, his shawl and his body providing the amour shielding her from the world, the slight bent of his head with the soft gaze providing her the much needed comfort yet maintaining the strength of his posture, because they were still at danger â just so tantalizing. The moment had rawness, vulnerability, strength and most intimate vibe without even trying, all roll into one. What they have shot must have been nicer, but what they showed us was just perfect!
Episode 21 â Walk with me, side by side

Apart from their Walima walk hand-in-hand (Editors were generous with that walk!), they never walked together. He always walked either in front or from behind her with a protective stance. This was the only time they walked at each otherâs side. Their eyes sparkling with merriment, they were blissfully content. Two full feet apart from each other, yet the intimacy was palpable as if they were entwined around each other (I remember pausing it here and gawking at them but failing to get enough of it every time!).
Episode 22 â The happily ever after (before the ârealâ happily ever after)

If there was no âKhetâ sequence, this would be the perfectly preferred shot for their happily- ever after! Both enfolded in his shawl and his hand softly gathering her within the cocoon of his arms, heading towards their sanctuary â if not this, what could it be. The tranquility of this scene was unadulterated â quite the contrary of the utter chaos that their life was!
Episode 35 â The perfect âmismatchedâ couple

Holding hands is their love language, but this is one of my favourite hand-holding scenes. They were not holding hands here rather were clutching to each other â so, husband-wife coded! This passing moment exuded so much proprietary and familiarity; even at the distant ends of the spectrum of ideologies and beliefs, they were still very much a âteamâ here, holding on to each other. I wished so ardently for more such moments!
Last Episode â The really happily ever after
The Khet scene, specifically the moment where he wraps her dupatta around her (no image, as the finale episode has vanished from the YT) â no words are needed for this one, anyone who followed their journey would know, the shot is paradisical!
So, these are my five most favourite postcard-shots of TB. If you read this, let me know if I have missed any.
(And whoever read this, sorry for the long post!)
