Excited for her to get such a big recognition.
But I'm not the biggest fan of the interview. Imagine getting Time Person of the Year at the peak of your career which is almost two decades old, and then having to discuss your recent boyfriend. Smh.
Also, she sounds so juvenile talking about Travis. Like a giddy teenager. Is that what love is like? LMAO. I have no idea.
To quote myself:
I wish she said "When he put me on blast on his podcast, I was like wtf bitch. You're not God's gift to mankind. Women don't owe you anything. So if a girl turns you down, don't whine about it everywhere. Put on your big boy pants and take it in stride. Learn from it."

Haha. I'm salty. I kind of liked low-key Joe Alwyn. But I know it didn't work out, and she was unhappy for a while. And if she's happy with Travis, I'm happy for her.
But I am not at all happy with how they started out. I think Travis acting butthurt on the podcast was unacceptable. He got away with it and got the girl because he's rich, handsome, and popular. The average guy who complains about a girl refusing his number is considered creepy and desperate. I really wish women were consistent and didn't make exceptions. They could have still dated with her saying "Hey, it wasn't cool, you calling me out like that" and him acknowledging, "Yeah, I didn't think it through. I'm sorry, I should have been more mature. But can we start fresh on the right foot?"

This is a choice
A bad choice, you mean
I mean, I get the choice. She has dominated culture relentlessly this year, at least in the Americas. She is also a sub-economy of her own, so it makes perfect sense for Times to associate and capitalize on it. God knows they like a controversial pick to generate traffic.
If they wanted to do bread and circuses, the right way would have been to do a more broad entertainers spread with Margo + Greta, Fran Descher, Beyonce, etc.
Another head moving king 🥰. I had to keep my head still while watching this.
The whole interview is what makes it feel like a truly bad choice. You have been declared the Person of the Year, and you want to use that opportunity to take digs at your nobody ex-boyfriend and Kanye West, girlboss-ify capitalism, and put easter eggs for your album. It's all so frivolous.Originally posted by: return_to_hades

There's a point where she is branding reputation as some societal vendetta against her, and the interviewer writes that the album sold millions of copies, produced big hits, and most of the mess was of her own making. Yet they don't ask her because who are they to questioin her. No mention of Healy, her private jet controversy, her role in politics, and her amassing insane wealth this year. And a passing mention of the Brazil mess. I don't blame the journalist; she probably forced them to do a fluff piece in exchange for the photoshoot. But it makes it look so unserious. Like it's not Time's but US Weekly or something.
