I think it is because of low TRP. Before ending Kaira story, it was relatively low. So SP must have intervened with their story developmenet as remake of non-Hindi popular show can bring more TRPs. It is the same story for Season 4.

Whatever script they wrote in 2009 worked as number of competitors were less and ott were less.

Theh somehow survived until gen 2 as ott was not so popular. From gen 3 onwards channel has regional channels, other hindi channels, ott as a competitors. In order to get highet trp they add these toxic sequences. As if they just show happy sequence other channels are also offerring the same 😂

Plot will change even without star intervention. Virat was the favorite son, Armaan not, so abhira will not be accepted, the entry to the poddars is due to rohit. He was telling in the iv, both brothers will handle. And armaan he is still stuck to ruhi. They only show some trip and fall.
