I believe age has nothing to do with realization. I can believe him being a better person at 45yrs age than 40. But the thing is he was an idiot then at 40, disrespecting Hindu Gods and even now he is misusing and twisting Hinduism to suit his agenda and is constantly bitter. He is the kind of person who after 5 more yrs can still say, oh didn't know then and push his new narrative for personal benefits.
