Aao twist Karein from 1965 Bhoot Bangla, RDB, Manna Dey.
Manna Dey is wonderful, he was unjsutly labelled as a 'classical' singer.
25 years complete of most 90s kid's favourite film to love (and HATE!)

But no matter what, the fashion (hairbands, friendship bands, 'COOL necklace') and music will forever be iconic

1. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai: "Tum paas aaye, yoon muskuraye..tumne na jaane kya sapne dikhaaye"
Everyone has dreamed of dancing to this song as Rahul/Anjali/Tina with their crush, even if they deny it!
2. Koi Mil Gaya: "Meri aankhon hai woh, meri saanson mein hai woh, aur kahoon tumse kya?"
Every birthday party was incomplete without this song and everyone used to know the steps! Many used to replay this song JUST to see Rahul walk up to Anjali at the above line, though it was blatantly obvious to both the audience and Anjali what his choice was
3. Saajanji Ghar Aaye: WHAT AN ENTRY *whistles*!! This saajanji had the audience's heart from the first shot!
One of the most memorable wedding songs of the 90s!! Aman was such a sweetheart, unpopular opinion, but I am glad he did not SETTLE for Anjali if she was did not love him. He deserved better..
4. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (Sad): "Jaane wafaa hoke bekaraar, barso kiya maine intezaar.."
When the instrumental version of this plays when Rahul and Anjali meet after 8 years, everyone had happy tears in their eyes, and then at the marriage, we were all half afraid iss baar bhi Anjali ka pehla pyaar adhoora reh jaayega...
5. Yeh Ladka Hai Deewana: "But he's your bestfriend yaar.." "But she's your bestfriend yaar.."
The friendship anthem of the 90s, perfectly encapsulating the tu-tu main-main platonic friendships between both the sexes, where they are calling out how both of them are equally frazy. Also gave the most memorable handshake! But still do not understand why the entire college was so invested in their fight
6. Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aayi: "Tune acchi preet nibhayi, kisi se ab kya kehna?"
We all felt Anjali's heartbreak in the preceding scene where she put on a brave front when Rahul spoke about confessing to Tina and breaking all her hopes and the entire song, where she tries to piece herself together. Yes, she should not have felt entitled to his love, but he should have not played the 'Pyaar Dosti Hai' trick on her either. They had a beautiful friendship which got RUINED because of love.
7. Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram: Bhaggu knows why this was like this!
The contrast between Anjali singing the normal bhajan and then Rahul in the midst of the remix crew
8. Ladki Badi Anjani Hai: "Roke koi mujhe zara, bhar na aaye dil mera.."
The above sentiment is echoed in the audience, who get to witness Rahul and Anjali together again. This song has all the 'feminine' transformations in Anjali, and tells us how Rahul still has the 'outward beauty' criteria to fall in love...which is why I prefer to just listen to the audio, but there are these moments when they are reminiscing their friendship, and it is hard to ignore they DID miss each other as best friends.
I thought movie was ok wasn’t so crazy over the the ladki song was good

Yeah, I just meant to share the post coz I wrote something after a long time, it is absolutely fine if you feel differently about the movie/music, it is not my intention to force anyone to like it.
Loved the write-up, Tannu! Clearly shows your love of the movie and the songs!
I loved the songs and friendships
I preferred Aman over Rahul
I didn’t understand why they didn’t abort the baby if Tina was going to die. And why whe put responsibility on her young daughter to reunite them

In all honesty, I stopped liking the movie since a decade or so, coz of how it treated my favourite character, and gave me problematic expectations of self and romantic love while growing up, and I can write a 3-page essay on it anyday
but yes, the music truly still holds a special place in my heart

I think majority do. Which is why Aman does not deserve to be anyone's second choice.
Let him also get someone who loves him completely no matter what, like Anjali did for Rahul! (:

*Common sense left the chat* There are a lot of loopholes in the movie if you really sit and think about it. I only care about the music
