For the actor, it means 'double role' as he has to play two different characters (Suri played Raj as a showing off Hindi hero, but with Suri's love for Taani)...so it's also double-play (and wonderfully rendered in the competition song/dance)...it's one of my favourites SRK double-roles because it shows how love can bring out hidden talents.

i have my own definition for me this kind of character who pretends to be someone else by changing their look are not double roles for me.If it is the same person it is not double role

I understand that...yet here you have two distinctly different persons - at least in Taani's eyes and heart...so, it isn't just changing the clothes and face (hair/beard)...it is changing the body language, the voice modulation, the softness/restraint vs loudness/importunity, the quite silent vs the talkative, the showing off vs the shyness etc.

It's a movie about wanting to be somebody else as a person because of lovingly caring for someone who rejects you. But, eventually - before giving up his natural persona - Taani has developped a soft corner for Suri and don't want to leave him. (That scene is again one of SRK's highlights of acting...showing this mix of feelings going through Suri/Raj.)

Edit: Also the scene with the mannequin in his friend's salon is a highlight as it shows the schizo touch of Suri's play.

SRK seems to have a thing for double roles. I think his best were in Jawan, Fan and Don

The kids (and I) like Duplicate more than Don because Vijay gets no chance to play Don (okay, the first view is a surprise).

After that, we all like to discover the moments when Don/SRK tries to suggest through his play that he is Vijay playing Don...absolutely gorgeous! (we have watched Don at least five times, now smiley36...with vivid discussions

True there are definitely some moments where you can see the real Don in the second half once you know the twist. Definitely one of the best twists in any Bollywood movie for me

It's a shame we won't get a Don 3 anymore and tbh Don 2 was not nearly as good either

Duplicate is a fun movie but both SRK characters are a bit too exagerrated

Fan

Duplicate

In Duplicate, I liked villain SRK most than Hero SRK. he did something different in the movie as a creepy villain. Aisi risk kisni BW actor ne nahi li hogi.

The most favourite part for the Kids is the song where the girls have the 'wrong' partner...we laugh every time when it comes in the movie (or when we watch it solo).

Edit: As for Fan...I didn't tell the kids anything about the movie...the first thing they asked me when seeing Gaurav: "Oh, a lookalike of ShahRukh...who is that actor?" me: "I tell and show you after the movie." Not for one second, they guessed or asked "Isn't it ShahRukh?".

Ha, so proud of SRK...what a fine movie...so well crafted, so much work...and the second half was absolutely okay (imo) as Aryan wanted to do all the 'necessary' himself, so personal it has become. I really think he was mega-pi**ed but also wanted the boy getting a life and not handing him over to the police.

But it was 2016, the high time of cleverly boycotting him and hurt him.

Jack, only SRK haters can take you serious...or better: I've decided to not take your SRK-rants serious anymore...my laugh smileys aren't to laugh at you but having a hearty laugh about your rants...smiley4
