But tv treats actresses past 30 as fossils (except select few top actresses like Jen winget, Divyanka), I wonder how old Anshu is, she looks same age as Himanshi and all and is playing mother.

I remember 16 year old Prachi Desai was appearing board exams and auditioning to play female lead opposite Ram Kapoor who was 34 year old then, 2 decades back.

Cut to now, 17 year old Sumbul is cast opposite 36 year old Gashmeer in Imlie. And Ami who plays Harshads mom in Yrkkh is same age as Harshad, looks same age too but has to play mom.

@bold 1 - so true it’s so sad acrually. Another one is Shradha Arya.

@bold 2 - that was an ok fit as the script demanded Prachi to be much younger than Ram kapoor character. And she was also like Himanshi, tall and mature face. She looked older than her age.

Yeah Seerat looks older(nothing bad about it). Gurleen looks younger. Actresses also lower age by 1/2 years on portfolio because shelf life is less for them, especially in tv and modelling industry.

Vj looks bit younger than most actors in his age range like Barun Nakuul.

Oh my! Don't get me wrong... I didn't say it as a bad thing or good thing. I just mentioned it like that since we were speaking about age.

By the way Barun and Nakuul are older than VJ no. Nakuul's crossed 40, but he has that.. 40s wala charm. And I used to feel VJ looked a bit older (as in kate 20s early 30s) in Udaan only during a certain phase, but then after that I he started looking younger and has remained the same since the last 6 years or so. Specially as Darsh, he didn't look a day older than 25.

He looks much younger than his age and she looks more older for her age so this pairing works. It’s her height and Himanshi is mature in real life too. VJ has said in interviews too she’s very mature has a lot of patience and is always ready with her lines even though it’s her first role in Hindi.

u r right. Himanshi is very sorted and deals in a very matured way.. At least that's what I have seen in interviews. And yes.. u dont see a jarring age gap between them. But there are so many shows where you actually feel that between actors as u mentioned this yeh rishta.. The girl looks really young and super cute.. Whereas Harshad looks a lot older.. But definitely not 40.

Not really, I could tell Prachi was a kid. She had to play the oldest sister, 25 year old.

Prachi also said in interview that she switched to movies because the moment she hit 25 she started getting offers to play mom to 30 year old actors on tv. Film had slightly more opportunities in that regard.

Regardless, in no world is a 16 year old right pairing with 30 plus, come on that is a school kid. You see a 16 year old, you will think of them as a kid. Some people look mature but it is still creepy when the actress has not even hit adulthood and actor is middle aged.

I think with Darsh, due the blind act he always had such a sweet innocent face (except a few times) so made him look younger.

With Armaan it was different he looked dashing and cunning.

Sadly, this has been the norm since the 90s I guess.. Now it's slowly changing in the movie industry tho. Actresses debute when they are 15 or 16, by 27-28 they are declared old and not fit to be heroine. Whereas a male actor in his 60s can still play a 30 years old hero. And romance a 20 year old heroine.
