I don't think you're fully appreciating the sort of prices Red Chillies is charging for the first extended week.

A recliner in Mumbai is going for 1950 & in Delhi for 1600. That's like 24 US. More than what they charge in North America. I don't even know how ridiculous the IMAX prices are. Gadar was 650 & Pathaan was 900.

Regular seats are going for 400-1000. Gadars average rate was 219. Pathan 290.

Pure Cash grab. While 3x Premium for big releases is quite common in South Cinema....this is the first time the Hindi Belt will be witnessing something of this sort. Will people stay away out of principle....there are small murmurs of that but seems to be working big time in general. The footfalls will certainly stay way behind Pathan & Gadar but it doesn't need much to catch up to them with those prices. The weekend will obviously be historic.

He lied. It's finally their call but you can convince them quite easily, especially if you have a relationship with them.

Anyways, it's not a bad thing. If you're making a 300 Cr film you should be able to charge premium pricing compared to a 20 Cr film.

This advance booking nonsense is nothing but producers buying tickets of their own movies to create initial hype. Even Adipurush sold 2.85 lakh tickets before its release. Instead of promoting movies now they just spend the P&A budget in buying tickets.

When you face criticism about your crazy rates....it's easy to put it on the theatre owners. Except mentioning the part where you asked them to charge these rates.
