People get shorter as they get older. Starting from 40 our bone density weakens and you could lose any where between 1.5 to 2 inches, a lot more if someone's not taking care of their health. It's pretty normal and seeing that SRK is nearing 60 and is not the epitome of perfect health and good habits, I think it's understandable. Could also be that he's lost muscle mass due to age as well, hence looks leaner than necessary.

I thought he wore platforms underneath his shoes though.

^^ Even the hindi remake of "Nuvvostanante nenoddantana" movie had this Telugu title "Ramaiya vastavaiya", I felt wierd that time also.
