Gadar 2 - The Katha Continues on track for another strong week as it collects around 6.75 crore nett on its third Friday despite the competition of the new Hindi release Dream Girl 2 amd multiplex regional releases which have got good to decent crowds on their respective opening days.

The drop is only 15% from Thursday despite the competition and it is sure consolidate with big numbers over the weekend. The collections of the film are now over 420 crore nett and there is plenty more to come and it will cross the numbers of KGF 2 tomorrow (Saturday).

The film remains the best collecting film at most mass markets be it UP, Bihar, MP, Gujarat and even Maharaashtra (Mumbai city and Pune not included) as it does better than the new release Dream Girl 2 in these parts. The film also maintains the pace for 500 crore nett business in the final run with this hold.

Dream Girl 2 has done well on day one with collections in the 9 crore nett range. The numbers are good considering how the films of the male lead (this can be questioned though as is playing a female) have fared recently but it is a franchise film and opening pretty much same as the first one. These numbers would have been excellent a few months back but with the box office pretty much on track the film should have got into double digits.

Still its a start and the costs are reasonable and it remains to be seen where the multiplexes take the film. The areas not doing well are the ones where Gadar 2 is extra strong but its more than that as these parts have a conservative audience and Ayushmann Khurana films never do well in these parts.

If it continues to score decently it can retain some screens even after Jawan’s release. No?
