It can be the following reasons

1 .For increasing the episode count.

2. Or they really did wanted to establish the new sharma couple but maybe that didn't go too well with the audience.

Abhinav ji kyon chale gaye... He was so compatible with vamp akshara in all her evil characteristics.

Absolutely right makers only tried to portray Abhi in a negative light instead of Akshara because she was the reason of this storm. She was always concerned about others rather then her marriage which should be her priority but no she didn't pay heed to that. Throughout this leap the 8 months they only Abhi was wrong & we do agree Abhi did the wrong thing but it's worse to only blame him for everything, akshu was equally responsible for what happened but makers only made Abhi realise no Akshu. But now Akshu should realise that she was equally wrong in all that happened
