When was Shweta involved in Aradhya's upbringing? Aishwarya has been talked about over and over by Abhishek. No, he did not mention Jaya.
He is talking about the Bachchan side of his family and how he feels the pressure to keep up. Can't people talk about their fathers without mentioning their mothers? This is so weird.
Abhishek is not even someone with a habit of WTH comments. I would even say he's less sexist than his wife.
Not every sentence that comes out of someone's mouth is evidence of bigotry. Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar.
I meant Teji bacchan, a social activist.
Jaya Bahaduri Bacchan a successful actress
And shweta is his elder sister, who is very close to him.
These 3 are almost erased in this interview.
Uff...
Bachchan surname this bachchan surname that...
Calm down Abhishek...
You're not the royals of India...or anywhere.

They are important parts of the family, but they're not the reason the family is famous. Not even because of Jaya. He's talking about the Bachchan legacy. Simply mentioning the women to check off a list would be patronizing.

you forget that he mentioned himself. So he is more accomplished and famous than his mother and wife?
Nope, your logic doesn't check out.
The only reason he's mentioning the men isn't because they're the reason the family is famous (!!), he does that only because they're men.

He didn't say Aradhya has to keep up with his legacy. He mentioned his father and grandfather. Like it or not, they're the reason the family has a hefty legacy. It's silly to pretend otherwise.
If Aradhya ever talks about the Rai family to her kids, should she mention her Rai grandfather? I would think she mentions Aishwarya Rai.
This whole premise of *oh, he's patriarchal* in this instance is outrage looking for an offense.
Yea this is from the Raj Shamani podcast right? Abhishek spoke extensively about Jaya and how she has instilled discipline, values and he is everything that he is because of her etc. 🤓 and what is this sudden love for obnoxious Shweta Bachchan 🤣

I see nothing wrong with what he said. Even those who aren't Bachchans has a family name & reputation to uphold which we try our best to protect & maintain. Not everything needs to be judged with a microscope. We aren't in his shoe, we aren't with that surname. I'm sure if it comes with privilege, it comes with a price, too! Because God forbid if some day Aru ends up doing something wrong or even her dad for that matter, the same people on such discussion forums would say he's/she's AB sr. Grand daughter/son how can they do it. That's exactly why we are taught to do certain things in a certain way since an early age. Nothing "so patriarchal" about it.
