Well you are comparing apples to oranges. The member clearly mentioned his father is an established director.

The likes of Ranbir, Sonam, Alia, Jahnavi did, and Anupama conflated the 2 to pooh pooh Vicky's own hard-earned success.

If I knew someone in publishing from my hometown, I'd call him. That wouldn't make me a nepo baby. Because trust me, no one's publishing my book unless it's good. Stephen King's son would get his book published because publisher would want the next Stephen King. That's nepotism.

In the 80’s/90s most actors whether they had connections ( I’m using that term over nepotism because nepotism means (“Favoritism granted to relatives or close friends, without regard to their merit”), had to prove them selves and the ones who did are still thriving and getting movies.

Examples the Khans ( the two khans who had connections did not have their parents launch them despite having connections to the industry and the other one whose dad was a writer made him go and audition to get his roles and the movie in which he was the lead he became an overnight sensation!!

His brothers didn’t get that stardom despite having connections n a brother who is a superstar. But yes connections help as the path is easier. Just like with the deols, dharmendra paved the way and sunny and Bobby benefitted but they had to prove themselves to the audience. The same with Amir khan etc.

Ajay devgan ( nepo ), akshay kumar ( not nepo) , then in next lot Hrithik roshan ( only nepo who thriving the most amongst his group)

Connections help but later it’s talent and audience that sustains You nepo or not. 80s and earlier most were outsiders then naturally those outsiders had kids but those kids still had to work hard and maintain their positions.

On topic: whether Vicky or any other person who as connections will be labeled as nepo ( whether or not they got auditions, they struggled, etc. I do understand that he and others I mentioned ie the two khans and Devgan despite reaching stardom/superstardom will have this label as well. So why should he be excluded. ?

The 2000 generation star kids entering the industry have it so much easier because their parents are not only established but their is less competition by outsiders and most directors/producers etc don’t try to cast those outside the industry( that’s the main problem and we have more untalented people in the industry that are being shoved down our throats that even the audience doesn’t want to see. Yet, you can’t blame star kids who want to enter the industry because they have seen their parents acting, directing, etc and aim to do the same and most parents want them to follow in their foot steps. It might not be fair but u don’t choose to be born to a star parent or not. !! Those star kids who don’t have talent will eventually fade but yes they will get more opportunities to prove over non star kids.

Ultimately it’s the audience who decides whom will become a star

My God! Anything to minimize a person' success. Kausal Sr was a STUNT director. Huge diff between that and a director. The likes of Ranbir and Sonam got films delivered to them. That's neptosim. The likes of Vicky had access. Conflating the 2 is unethical as hell. Or as Maroon would say, shady.

Not the point.

I'm pretty sure you actually do get the point. The snooty little twit is comparing someone who had to work his butt off to get where he is to the ones to whom films came on a platter. Using access is not the same as nepotism.

Ajay Devgan was in the exact same position as Vicky. Not even close to someone like Aamir. Salman didn't fare as well because yes, Salim Khan did make him work for it.

The comparison is being done to deliberate obfuscate nepo babies privilege.

I realized that this about Vicky being Shyam Kaushal's son and this being a nepokid is being given too much hype since his marriage. Like many people say that, shaadi ke pehle he was an outsider too.

And it's just him, Sunny is his bro, not the son of an action director, but just bro of an actor (and now bro-in-law of an actress)
