🏏West Indies VS India, 2nd T20I: Providence Stadium, Guyana🏏

************

Now that the caravan has moved to Guyana, the pitches aren't expected to be drastically different. The last time the West Indies played here, over a year ago, spin played a huge part.

The consensus is that India fielded four No. 11s in their playing XI. With the lower order not contributing with the bat at all, the onus is always on the top 7 to step up.

The visitors might brush it aside as a one-off performance, but with the World Cup scheduled to be staged on these shores in less than 12 months, performances in this series will count.

Hence, it's very important for the likes of Kishan, Gill and Samson to show that they can deliver on the low, slow conditions prevalent in this part of the world.

After facing defeat in the 1st T20I, Team India will be aiming to make a strong comeback in the second match of the five-game series today.

India lost the first match by 4 runs, failing to chase down a small target of 150 runs.

It will be interesting to see whether one sees a change in India XI. There is Yashasvi Jaiswal, waiting in the wings to make his debut.

But any change is unlikely, as India may want to stick with Ishan Kishan at the top. All eyes will be on Shubman Gill and how he goes in this game.

He has not been among the runs of late and would surely want some runs under his belt.

Tilak Varma looked impressive on his T20I debut, stroking a quickfire 39 off 22 balls.

It will be interesting to see how he goes. West Indies are a strong T20I outfit, and the going can get tougher against them in this format of the game, unlike the Tests and ODIs.

India will have to be on the ball to beat them in the 2nd T20I and level the series.

Making his debut, Tilak Varma hammered two sixes off his first three balls in international cricket during the first T20I.

That was easily the only batting highlight in the Indian innings, as they went down in that opening game against West Indies.

The track wasn't the easiest to bat on, but a strong Indian lineup was expected to chase down 150 against a beleaguered West Indian outfit.

But Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson looked out of sorts, thus leaving the lower order to get the job done.

With India, that is one major issue that they will have to address in white-ball cricket.

What to expect: Going by recent history, the teams will be presented with a surface that aids spin. However, there is a possibility of a morning shower on match day that could disrupt the game.

Probable playing 11 --

West Indies

Rovman Powell regretted not picking another spinner in the first game. Roston Chase might get a look in if West Indies opt to add to their spin options.

Probable XI: Kyle Mayers, Brandon King, Johnson Charles/Roston Chase, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell (C), Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Obed McCoy

India

There could be a temptation to play Yashasvi Jaiswal up top but Ishan Kishan will likely get another game which means an unchanged XI is the likely outcome.

Probable XI: Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (C), Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar

Nicholas Pooran registered scores of 73 (ODI) and 74* (T20I) in the last two games West Indies played at this venue

- Mukesh Kumar became only the second Indian player after T Natarajan to make his debut across formats on the same tour.

Hardik Pandya has been average in his performances recently with the bat and this game will have a lot of eyes on him to point a finger at him and question his abilities as a skipper and captain.

Tilak had a fine debut. He started his international career with two maximums off the first three balls he played and was sensational in the field as well. India will look to get things done in the second game of the series.

Sanju Samson failed to impress in the previous contest after getting runout on 12 when India needed him to finish the game. Hardik Pandya also got out in the final moments of the game, which left India in a very tricky spot.
