I think if he was as angry as you are saying then it made sense to leave him alone after he asked them to. I get angry and want to be left alone and don’t like when anyone hovers around it makes me more angry lol so I understand them leaving.
Maybe he goes to talk again in a calm manner and king dies? But it would be sad to see Tara totally butchered and that’s why I hope she too calms down after death and realises error of her ways.
