Where does one draw the line? One draws the line according to their tolerance and preference. How does one draw the line? By not watching. It's that simple.
Haha! Them truth bombs! But HC, oh well!
Every story has a journey with its characters. A character you liked in episode 1 will not be the same in episode 100. They will go through changes. Akshara, licensed therapist, underwent life trauma and became a much stronger version as Akshara, the mother. A superficial entitled naive upbringing and then becoming a mother who goes through a reality check of life..running a business and her household while raising her son. Old Akshara can't even imagine being that steady or strong.
I actually liked that she seperated from Abhimanyu, became stronger for her son. And yes, pre-leap Akshara also had a lot of progress from when S3 started. My issue was with most of the choices she made once she ran away. (Yes, her choices before the leap were questionable too, but let’s not go there as this post started off with post-leap changes cause the plot got serious).
I also love post-leap Abhimanyu! I have said somewhere else on this forum as well, IMO, Abhimanyu is the only character who’s identity has been best mainatined through the leaps. Yes, they have shown character growth, he has become more patient, less implusive, etc. But the very core of his nature was not changed. He is still a righteous doctor who stands by the truth and is true to his character’s premise. Pre-leap, the whole white day blame game fiasco was stupid and illogical.
That journey is needed because that's how characters shape up. Akshara and Abhimanyu may have clearly completed each other (don't agree with that all ) once upon a time. But they no longer do. Maybe they loved each other once upon a time. But she no longer does. And that's fine. That's real life lol. It's ITV's one true love syndrome that hurts FLs constantly chaining them to men who do outrageous things. Love can happen again, people can change for better or for worse, two people should no longer be together after certain life events they have gone through.. And viewers have the right to point it out and choose sides.
Again, I have no issues with characters falling in and out of love. I believe Akshara and Abhimanyu then completed eachother in many ways. I also believe that Akshara and Abhinav now complete each other in other ways. I also believe that Akshara and Abhimayu CANNOT get back together. Akshara as a character has completely changed. I can no longer see them together. It just does not make sense to me.
Nobody needs to draw any lines. The writers are drawing them for you. It's their story and their script. One can watch if they want to or not. Tolerate if they want to or not. Comment if they want to or not. Viewers have the choice. They can use their remote.
I understand. Not watching is the best option. Or to watch without expecting any logic. Well, superhero movies have more logic than some ITV serials. 😆
What they don't have is the luxury of entitlement that a story must move in a certain way to please them. Or it's incorrect that characters behave in a certain way because they think so. Let me tell you, Rishta is still one of the few shows which actually make sense on ITV. You actually get to know a character's motivations and thoughts and there's some sort of consistency too in terms of major character arc. Compared to that, most of ITV is a mess of randomness. One of the reasons why audience is still connected after 14 years.
The current narrative of YRKKH makes absolutely no sense to me. ITV is not reality, not even close. I agree. But that does not mean that they make it completely illogical and so far away from logic and the characters that they have built up. I am all for character growth. But in the instances that I have pointed out throughout this post, I do not think I can call that character growth. And I do not agree that the writers are not questionable at all. Yes, it’s their story and they can interpret characters how they want. But I refuse to believe that they have no issues with seeing how their characters are being treated in the real world via social media. I refuse to believe that they don’t cater to the audience (whether it’s a certain set or not, I do not know) when they write characters. The very fact that they write the show as it progresses tells me that they do care about opinions and how viewers perceive their characters.
