I am watching post apocalypse sci-fi show Silo.
Earth has been destroyed because of some biological warfare☢️, the 10.0000 humans who have managed to survive have gone to live deep into underground, in a Silo😲, that goes almost 150 storey into the ground. On the top Storey of Silo, closer to the ground there is a screen from where the outside world can be seen. It is a stark, dreary world, littered with corpses of people who have gone out to clean(the screen which has become dirty over time)🤢.
You can go out of the Silo into the dystopian, unlivable world in two ways, you make a request to go outside, this request once made cannot be undone in any way 😒or you commit a crime and are sent out as a punishment to clean the screen🤢.
Sheriff of the Silo is Holston, he has a wife named Allison 😊.
Since the resources are scarce, there is a strict control on people who are allowed to conceive😲. Every woman who can have a baby has a birth control device fixed into her😲. You, as a couple have to make a request to Judiciary, to let you have a baby😵. Depending the acceptance or denial of the request, the birth control device is removed and you are given time of one year to conceive a baby, after back the birth control device goes back in😲.
Allison and Holston make a request for removal of birth control device and the request is granted 👍🏼but they are unable to conceive🤔.
Following this quite a few things happen around Allison that make her go into the past of Silo and she discovers quite a few things that surprise her.🤔 But what she discovers is that the birth control device was never removed from inside of her😡. She tries to explain to people what she has found but even her husband does not believe her. So she finally requests to go out to clean🤢.
She tells her husband that once she is outside she will clean the screen if everything is clean and green, that will be the signal that everything is alright, else she wont🤔.
Allison steps out into a world that is supposed to be dystopian and unlivable but is actually lush green with birds chirping around👍🏼. So she turns around and cleans the screen, signalling holston that everything is ok⭐️, then she walks a few steps towards the tree, collapses and dies, adding to other corpses littered around her😒.
After Allison's death Holston starts investigating circumstances surrounding her death. He finds quite a few things and he too requests to go outside, Holston suffers the same fate as his wife Allison🤢.
Juliette Nichols, who works as an engineer in the bowels of Silo is appointed as the new Sheriff because Holston chose her as his successor, even though she is not qualified at all😳.
Silo is a quietly gripping scifi tale👍🏼. Unlike other scifi shows it has no shiny things to distract you😆. It is actually a murder mystery set in a dystopian world. The show begins with Holston requesting to go outside to clean and things slowly begun to escalate from their😊.
Writing is satisfactory not great but good⭐️.
Performances are quite good, no stand out performance but neither are any performances are unwatchable😆.
It was only after watching eight episodes did I come to know that the show is based on a book series of the same name, else I would have read the book 😆
Silo is a slow burn scifi mystery👍🏼,
7.4/10
