And why they did that? Tbh who keeps divorce papers in cupboards or who will go to court to get it done when there is a death in family.

The only reason why it was done was because sp received a complaint in one of the show for mocking marriage without divorce hence abhi had to divorce her. If we really look at all these logics toh yrkkh main koi sense hi nahi hai as it's a utter nonsense from the beginning but people look for all sense only during this season 😄
