6.03pm Stumps Australia dominate the second day again to remain on top in this final. They piled up 469 on the back on twin centuries from Travis Head and Steve Smith and a good 48 from Alex Carey. Then the five-man attack all contributed as India's top order wilted under relentless pressure. Rahane and Jadeja fought back nicely with a half-century stand to steady India but Lyon removed Jadeja late in the day to leave India with a huge mountain to climb to get back into the game on day 3. Australia on top in this WTC final after two days. Smith got to his ton in the very first over of the match, Travis Head crossed 150, Carey scored 48 and the Aussies added 142 runs to their overnight score. The Indian bowlers picked four wickets in the morning session and wrapped up the last three in the first hour after lunch, but they had conceded 469 after opting to bowl. In reply, India got off to a brisk start with both Gill and Rohit batting positively against Starc and Cummins. In came Boland, applied the brakes with a maiden over and immediately the Australian captain trapped Rohit lbw to win the battle of the captains. Boland and Green cleaned up Gill and Pujara respectively with both of them misjudging the line and shouldering arms. Starc removed Kohli with a snorter, thanks to the extra bounce. At 71/4, India were in a spot of bother. Things almost got worse when Rahane was adjudged lbw on 17 but he escaped it as Cummins had overstepped. Jadeja and Rahane stitched a fifty partnership with the former looking in good touch. However, with 15 minutes to go for stumps, Lyon removed the southpaw with a lovely delivery.

Scott Boland: Really exciting, pretty nervous before the start of this Test but nice to get into this game. (On Gill’s wicket) He’s a very good player, nice to knock him over early. We are in a very good spot now. (On the match situation) We are strong after 2 days, the pitch is a bit up and down and hopefully it will be harder for India to bat tomorrow. (On the uneven bounce) It felt like that in the middle, a couple balls taking off, a couple keeping low.

All the five Australian bowlers have taken one wicket apiece. Rahane has struggled after copping a blow on the hand, Srikar Bharat too was hit twice in his brief stay.

Experienced waalon ne bhi koi jhande nahin gaare😛On one side we have a team which has been practising there since one month and on other side we have team which has still not get rid of IPL hangover😳 which team do you think will perform better🤓
