I don't watch this show, but after reading some comments in another topic, I wanted to see how harmful the abortion-shaming message was.

It's irresponsible enough that writers disregard the pregnant woman's autonomy and legitimize other characters' interference in her reproductive choice, but in the above clip, starting at the 7 minute mark, Ṭhipakyāñcī Rāṅgoḷī crossed far over the line into deliberate misinformation about biology and health and what to expect from an obstetrician.
The fictional doctor said, you should have taken precautions! A real doctor would know that birth control is not 100% effective. An IUD (>99% effective) or a vasectomy (>99.99% effective) is a reliable, reversible method that avoids human error associated with condoms or birth control pills, but somebody will be that one out of a few hundred IUD-bearing women who becomes pregnant, or the partner of that one out of more than ten thousand post-vasectomy men who is capable of impregnating someone.
Whether birth control failed or the couple didn't use it properly, they are demonstrating responsibility now by seeking health care to abort the pregnancy. The doctor's duty is to perform the abortion.
Unrealistically, the fictional doctor repeatedly questioned the patient's wishes: "You want to end a pregnancy. Why?" (to the man) "You also don't want responsibility?" "If possible, think again about this decision of yours." "Excuse me, I feel that you should think again about your decision." In the real world, being a doctor is a license to practise medicine, not a license to judge people's morals!
The fictional doctor asked why the pregnant woman is risking her life - as if abortion is dangerous. This is an outright lie. Legal surgical abortion is one of the safest surgeries and pharmaceutical abortion is even safer. Pregnancy, on the other hand, has significant health risks: injuries from fainting, breathing blocked by vomiting during sleep, tooth decay, diabetes, toxemia, hemorrhage ... Childbirth kills far more women than legal abortion, and historically, childbirth was more deadly than illegal abortion too!
The fictional doctor remarked that abortion is not simple; it can have serious long-term consequences because it is not natural. This is a nonsense scare tactic. Natural processes can be dangerous and medical procedures are needed to clean up after natural outcomes like spontaneous abortion (miscarriage).
The fictional patient said that her mother, a doctor, advised her that abortion is possible in the first few weeks. In reality, it can take one or two months for a woman to realize that she is pregnant, and pharmaceutical abortion can be effective up to 24 weeks, which is five-and-a-half months.
Shame on the creative team of Ṭhipakyāñcī Rāṅgoḷī, and shame on Star Pravah for airing such propaganda to misinform and endanger real women/girls/persons in the audience!
