Through these stupid tactics of marrying Hindu girls? I mean come on. If this is not brainwashing then what is.

To be honest - I think its a dangerous - this anti-Islamic thing. If we look practically - we have two hostile nuclear power nations as of neighbours. Russia, our so called Ally is pariah to the western world - we have been heavily dependent on them to defence and when push comes to shove - they will side with China. NATO has each other, The Middle East countries will most likely side with their muslim friends (same reason Turkish media and Turkey is generally against us, lol). India should rather focus on assimilating and uniting each other rather than singling people out. Its ridiculous.

Trying to avoid religious discussions.

But looking at it from the grand scheme of things, brainwashed people tend to have low self-esteem, lack of confidence and autonomy, and often have complex family dynamics where they feel unloved and misunderstood. This is the reason why women end up in abusive or toxic relationships. This is the reason why women don't leave said relationships. Sexual predators/sex traffickers also look for women like this they can target. The insidious conversion where bad faith actors target women to convert usually happens in these situations.

The more people have freedom, autonomy, respect, and support - the less likely they will fall prey to bad-faith actors. Women need the freedom to get educated, work, and be financially and socially independent. I also think dating should be encouraged and families should have conversations with their children about sex and dating. It can reduce gullibility and prevent women from falling for fvck boys, both religious and abusive.

Edit to add: There is a ton of content out there that shows how people are preyed on. While I think every story is relevant for awareness, I am often like - what now. What is the next step? And my problem tends to be that every time such a story is told the solution never is for society to change and empower women - the solution is to broad stroke eliminate anyone of a different faith who may woo women, irrespective of whether they are genuine or bad.

Ofcourse!! We also wouldn't want you to upset Islamic sentiments and lose your liberal tag...

So you can play safe and talk about women issues all you want...

You are right. Vulnerable people are vulnerable about anything and anyone in life can prey on them. If you have watched the movie though, the reasons they convert are so ridiculous. *Spoiler alert - The girls start wearing hijab because there muslim roommate hires people to molest them in public and tells them that Allah will protect them and no muslim/hijab woman ever gets molested. This is literally an insult to our intelligence.

That is what I gleaned from the trailer. Barring the part their roommate hiring the goons. I would have been like "beesh please, you think I was born yesterday. I was harassed when I was a child in 4th standard. It has nothing to do with religion."

I am sure the victims had a very traumatic experience and I don't want to dismiss it. But damn. The trailer showed these girls to be dumb fvcks who could get manipulated by the dumbest shit ever. Made me lose interest in the movie. Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes. Perhaps if the trailer was cut with more gravitas. I'm sure the movie and the story have more seriousness.

So, basically the point is to not be in a minority especially in a Muslim majority country. It doesn't really have to do with spirituality but more like politics. Well, the data that I've come across has sort of proved that conversions are either not a real goal for a Muslim government or it is not so easy as to execute in such large numbers.

About praying to our God in secret.. that was obviously an extreme situation but my point was that conversion doesn't mean anything internal. But following a religion or faith is actually an internal thing.

Also, anybody who can just leave one religion and accept the other for money or such are not really its followers. They are just for numbers. These people could be won to the Hindu side with more money same way? Just seems stupid to worry about them.

TBH I don't have any Muslim friends and no one I know from PAkistan so I don't know the ground reality there. But my belief is that it's not the religion that defines people and so being Muslim isn't inherently bad. I am not averse to living in a country where Hindus are in the minority. Pakistan is a disaster because it never got a proper government for an extended period of time. It is suffering in every sphere because of that. And still they haven't eradicated Hindus. My point is that some specific news about Hindus being tortured might be coming our way especially in these times when the political atmosphere is geared towards making us all feel hatred towards Islam. Whether news about Pakistan or in India itself, I'm not negating that piece of news but the narrative that goes with it. Whatever facts I have seen till now prove to me that mass conversions are not really happening. This is just to create paranoia amongst the masses.

Thanks for replying.
